The Augusta Co-op field services team are available to work with you to meet the goals of your farming or rural lifestyle operation. From agronomic to nutritional and management consultation to health recommendations, our team are experts in their field. Our staff hail from production agriculture backgrounds and are eager to help Augusta Co-op customers optimize profits of their livestock or agronomy operations.
All Augusta Co-op employees undergo annual feed, animal health, agronomic and ag-industry training.
Retail Feed Manager/Equine Specialist

Hillary grew up in Botetourt County, VA. Since early childhood, she has been active in the sheep and equine industries, showing both market lambs and Saddlebred horses. She was very active in her high school 4-H and FFA chapters where she participated in equine judging, livestock judging, public speaking and hippology. After high school, she studied biology at Emory and Henry College. After college, she worked for Botetourt Veterinary Hospital where she assisted with surgeries and patient recovery and cared for both small and large animals. After relocating to the Shenandoah Valley, Hillary worked for Flowing Spring Dairy and Eric Simmons Dairy as a calf caretaker. In May of 2017, Hillary joined Augusta Cooperative as an equine specialist. She continues to be active in the horse industry showing Saddlebred horses as well as participating in other riding disciplines. Her family also raises Hampshire and Dorset sheep.

Terry grew up in the Shenandoah Valley in Waynesboro, VA. Terry works with dairy cattle and has over 26 years of experience in the dairy nutrition field. Terry acquired his knowledge from hands-on experience working on farms and as a previous employee of a local feed company where he held the positions of Truck Driver, Mill Manager and VP of Sales. Terry’s personal commitment to his customers’ needs is demonstrated by his loyal customer base in the Northern Augusta and southern Rockingham County areas of Virginia.
Beef Specialist, CCA

Shawna grew up in Bath County where her family operates a commercial beef cattle and sheep operation in both Bath and Highland Counties. A portion of the farm has been in continuous operation by the Bratton family since the 1760’s. Agri-tourism has become a recent addition to their agricultural operations.
Shawna graduated from Virginia Tech University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Animal Science and a minor in Agricultural Economics. She participated on the livestock judging and the national agrimarketing teams and entered the animal health industry upon graduation.
In 1997, Shawna accepted a position in field sales with Augusta Cooperative. After three years in the field, she moved into various management positions in purchasing, advertising and website development with Augusta Cooperative. Last year, she moved back into the field as a Beef Specialist. Shawna also maintains certifications as a Nutrient Management Planner and Certified Crop Advisor. As a Beef Specialist, Shawna focuses on beef cattle nutrition, forage management, cattle reproduction and animal health needs with her customers.
In addition to her duties at Augusta Cooperative, Shawna is actively involved in the management of her family’s farm operation where she focuses on AI breeding, replacement heifer development, ration development, crop rotations and just about anything else associated with the farm.

Marc, a Midwest native, grew up in Creston, a southern Iowa town rich in agricultural history. Being active in 4-H throughout his youth positioned himself for a bright future in agriculture. After graduation, he attended Iowa State University and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Science. Marc began his professional career at a large horse training facility in Texas, as a Breeding Manager.
In 2005, he accepted a position at Augusta Co-op as the Fairfield Store Manager. Four years later, Marc joined the agronomy sales team as a Regional Sales Representative. Currently, Marc maintains several agronomy certifications including, Virginia Certified Nutrient Management Planner, Certified Crop Advisor and Virginia/West Virginia Professional Pesticide Applicator. These certifications and industry knowledge allow Marc to perform many tasks in his role, including crop scouting, solution recommendations, variety selection, crop planning and much more.
Feed Field Representative – Augusta, Rockingham & Highland Counties

Daniel is a native of Mill Run, PA where he was raised on a beef cattle and sheep farm. After graduating from school, Daniel took a full-time position managing a 250 cow Angus herd in Pennsylvania. He has over eight years of experience in animal health and reproduction, artificial insemination and embryo transfer. He has also served as a 4-H leader and livestock judging team coach. Daniel owns and operates May Valley Club Lambs. With his livestock experience, Daniel specializes in feed sales and animal nutrition in Augusta, Rockingham and Highland Counties.

Mercer grew up in Albemarle County, VA on a family beef and dairy farm. Mercer has a degree from Virginia Tech in Agriculture Economics with an emphasis in Small Business Management. Upon graduation, he completed Southern State’s management training program and worked in several retail locations affiliated with the company. Before coming to Augusta Co-op, he also managed a beef farm in Orange County, VA. Mercer supports customer needs in feed, animal nutrition and agronomy.
Turf Management & Agronomy Field Sales – Bedford, Franklin, Campbell & Pittsylvania Counties

John was raised on a dairy farm in Lynchburg, VA. He obtained his Associate in Business Management Degree from Central Virginia Community College and has served the agriculture industry for over 28 years. He has continued his education in the areas of Nutrient Management Planning from the State of Virginia, Dairy Nutrition from Penn State (Cargill), Agronomy from Virginia Tech and University of Maryland, and Sports Turf Management from Virginia Tech. He is a Certified Crop Advisor (CCA). He works out of the Bedford location assisting with agronomy operations in southern Virginia as well as sports turf management at local high schools. He also provides nutritional assistance to dairy farms in the Bedford, Franklin, Campbell and Pittsylvania county areas.
Equine Specialist

Alisa grew up in Augusta County, VA. Born into agriculture, Alisa’s family owns a local dairy operation (Meadow Run Dairy) near New Hope, VA as well as her father’s company, C & C Farmers Supply. She quickly developed a love for horses and starting riding and showing locally at the Southwest Virginia Hunter Jumper Association (SWVHJA) and Glenmore Hunt Pony Club until she graduated with a ‘B’ rating. After graduating from Fort Defiance High School, she attended Sweet Briar College, where she obtained a Business/Economics degree. While in school she also rode on the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA), Hunter Show, and American National Riding Commission (ANRC) teams. Post-graduation Alisa began her career at Sweet Briar College as an Intercollegiate Horse Show Association Riding Instructor. After several years, Alisa began to pursue her horse showing interests on a regional and national scale.
In 2006, Alisa first came on board with the Augusta Cooperative Farm Bureau, Inc. as their Equine Specialist. After six years in that role, Alisa began to work full time for her family enterprise, Jason Berry Stables, a full-service show and training facility. In 2020, Alisa returned to work for Augusta Cooperative Farm Bureau, Inc. as their lead Equine Specialist. Alisa is currently responsible for all equine on-farm consultations, pasture management and nutritional programs.

Alex grew up in Fort Defiance, VA. He graduated from Virginia Tech in 2019. While in school, he worked for the Virginia Tech Agronomy Farm. Following this he interned at the Shenandoah Valley Agriculture Research Center. In June 2019, he started at Augusta Cooperative Farm Bureau as a manager trainee and made his way to Agronomy Field Representative.
Currently, as an Agronomy Field Representative, Alex performs many tasks, including crop scouting, crop recommendations, hay and pasture management recommendations, customer service and much more.
