Description
A favorite food for most backyard birds. Has a high concentration of oil which is especially important in the winter to provide a quality source of energy. Also has a higher percentage of meat than striped sunflower seed and is a very nutritious source of high quality protein. The softer outer shell makes it easy for smaller birds like chickadees, nuthatches, titmice, goldfinches, pine siskins and finches to crack the shell and feed on the seed. Birds will use their oil glands to spread the oil over their feathers to keep them buoyant, dry and warm.
Contains approximately 8% Crude Protein, 12% Crude Fat, and 30% Crude Fiber
